With the editing process for Blood Ties nearly halfway done, I’m expecting to publish by Thanksgiving! Keep an eye out for it, and in the meantime, pop on by and read the first two books in The Bloodborn Series!
To keep my writer brain from going crazy with all the nitpicking, I’ve started in on my next project: The Megara Thorne Series. Let me tell you, it’s going to be a great one. We’re about 10,000 words in already (13%), and so far, it’s been an action-packed roller coaster ride. Care to hear about it? You’re in luck, because I’m going to tell you a little bit about the world you’ll be stepping into…
It’s been two years since National V-Day, when the vampires officially stepped out of the shadows and into the light. Not only has it been a bureaucratic nightmare to figure out citizenship and laws, but some of these vampires aren’t the most upstanding members of society. Good thing there have always been hunters around to chase all the things that go bump in the night, and these hunters have just gotten a massive break, because in order to combat the growing violence, local law enforcement has decided to acknowledge PVI’s – private vampire inspectors. Naturally, most of them are hunters that took advantage of the newfound legal protection. Enter, Megara Thorne, PVI, the only child of Jacob Thorne, and co-investigator at Thorne Investigations. They seem like a normal PI firm at first glance, but they really moonlight as vampire hunters, and that’s not all that’s special about them. The Thornes are the first family of hunters to ever attempt creating peace with one of the ruling vampire families; in this case, the Lysanders.
The Hunter’s Daughter (Book One of The Megara Thorne Series) zeroes in on Meg during this chaotic, revolutionary time. Not every hunter agrees with Jacob’s decision to create a treaty, and not every vampire family agrees with Stellan and Sabine Lysander’s decision to sign it. Now, in the midst of growing tension and rising plots against them, Meg and her family must choose where they stand – with family and blood, or with vampires and a chance at peace.
I immediately fell in love with this story because it’s all about how far people are willing to go for what they believe in, and it touches on universal themes of identity and the struggle to fit into an increasingly hostile world. I’m so excited to keep writing it, and I’ll keep everyone posted about progress.
Thanks for reading! As always…
Stay sassy,
Iris Walker
